5 Causes Of Watery Semen

As a man, have you ever wondered to yourself, “why is my sperm watery?” I am sure with this question on your mind, there are a million responses also running through your head. Do not fret because we are going to be answering that question by giving you five causes of watery semen.

When a man ejaculates, the fluid he releases through the urethra is called semen. Semen is usually a thick and white fluid that carries sperm out of a man’s body. However, occasionally people may notice a change in the fluid’s colour or consistency and this might result in watery semen.

Causes of watery semen

Here are 5 major causes of watery semen;

Low sperm count

Oligospermia which is also known as low sperm count can be the cause of watery semen in a man. When you have a low sperm count, it means your semen is smaller than normal. A low sperm count can be caused by;

  • Varicocele
  • Infection
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Tumours
  • Excessive intake of alcohol
  • Use of illicit drugs
  • Exposure to toxins or radiation.

Zinc deficiency

Watery semen may result from a zinc deficit. Men who have enough zinc levels can fend against the effects of anti-sperm antibodies, and sperm is treated as a foreign body by some immune system antibodies that are created.

Pre-ejaculation

Semen that is exceptionally transparent may possibly be pre-ejaculatory fluid discharged during foreplay. There are usually not many sperm in it. Hence it is crucial to note whether any colour is there or if the semen is clear or if it seems watery.

Frequent ejaculation

Watery semen can also be produced as a result of frequent ejaculation. The quality of semen after the first ejaculation is likely to deteriorate if you masturbate frequently, becoming thin and watery. To create a typical, healthy volume of semen, your body might need at least a few hours.

Lifestyle choices

When you make lifestyle choices like smoking, not exercising frequently, excessive consumption of alcohol, stress, or consuming carbonated drinks, they can cause you to have a low sperm count.

Watery semen is frequently transient and may eventually go away on its own. However, persistently watery semen may occasionally be a sign of another illness that can harm fertility. It’s time to go to a doctor if your watery semen continues to be an issue.
