Medically-Proven Effects Of Sex On Health

Is sex good for you? The answer is yes. Sex is great. Asides from reproduction, it has several medically-proven effects on health. We all deserve a healthy sex life that will make us glow.
Recent studies have found that having safe sex frequently can improve your well-being in many ways. This is because sex has advantages that can ultimately lengthen your life, just like any other physical activity.

Benefits of sex

Here are the medically-proven benefits of safe sex on health;

Lowers blood pressure

Sex reduces blood pressure. In a study done in 2016, one of the indicators of heart health was blood pressure. These researchers discovered that older women with positive sex lives were less likely to have high blood pressure. However, the study did not find the same result in older men.
Most medications for high blood pressure are known to cause erectile dysfunction. Hence, many people suffering from high blood pressure might get scared to engage in sexual intercourse. Although it is not a problem, it is still safe to consult a doctor for a second opinion before carrying through.

Reduces the risk of heart disease

According to several studies, women who say their sex lives are satisfying and men who have sex at least twice a week are less likely to suffer a heart attack.

Improves sleep

Oxytocin, dopamine, and endorphins are released during sex, and after orgasm, a hormone called prolactin begins to circulate. Feelings of relaxation and satisfaction are brought on by prolactin. Hence sex improves sleep.

Relieves stress

Sex alleviates stress. A study in 2019 examined the impact of romantic connections on cortisol levels. In response to stress, the body releases the steroid hormone cortisol.
Intimate expressions, whether sexual or not, were found to help lower cortisol levels in both males and females and return them to normal.

This stress-relieving impact may be due to the production of chemicals such as oxytocin, endorphins, and others during sexual activity.

Boosts the immune system

Regular intercourse boosted the immune system’s efficacy. In early research, researchers discovered that those who had frequent intercourse, defined as one to two times per week, had more immunoglobin A (IgA) in their bloodstream than others. Immunoglobulin A (IgA) is a kind of antibody found in mucosal tissue such as the salivary glands, nose, and vaginal tissue.

Reduces the risk of prostate cancer

A 2004 study indicated that a high frequency of ejaculation might lessen the risk of prostate cancer. They concluded that males who ejaculated more than 21 times per month had a decreased risk of prostate cancer than men who ejaculated just 4-7 times per month.

The researchers extended the study for another ten years in 2016 to continue their investigation of the participants’ chance of developing prostate cancer.

The preliminary findings were validated in this follow-up. Males who ejaculated the most had a decreased risk of prostate cancer than those who ejaculated the least.

Having sex has medically-proven effects on health, so it is encouraged. However, make sure while having sex with your partner, you use protection to reduce the risk of an STD. If you have any complaints or questions, speak to a doctor HERE.
